Macy’s spots aim to teach consumers how to use QR codes

According to a recent report published by ScanLife, an estimated 30-40% of all smartphone users have downloaded a bar code scanning application. The report went further to say that in 2010, there was a 1600% increase in mobile bar code scanning and mobile bar code scanning doubled in the 4th quarter of 2010.

Despite  these statistics, many consumers likely  still lack the knowledge in what to do with them as demonstrated by this recent spot by Macy’s.   In  their Backstage Pass campaign, the company shows how they work, where to get them and how to engage with their products and ads to learn more about the designers behind their wears.
